SILK is a free browser game by The Meridian. You start as a newly called pupil in Yaba with ₦200,000 and one brief, and you try to rise to Senior Advocate by building reputation, skill and relationships across Lagos. It runs on phones and computers, with no download and no account.

1. Create your lawyer
Choose a name, frame, build, skin tone, hair, hair colour, facial hair and outfit, then press Begin pupillage. You can change your look later from the wardrobe button in Street mode.

2. Walk the streets of Lagos
Street mode is a top-down Lagos you explore on foot. Move with the arrow keys or WASD on a computer, or the on-screen joystick on a phone. Walk up to people and press E (or tap) to talk. Your first quest, First Brief, starts outside Mama’s house: collect your case file from Bisi’s Business Centre, take a danfo from the Yaba bus stop to Lagos Island, meet your mentor Mrs Bankole SAN and argue your first motion at the High Court.

There are seven quests in the current version: First Brief, Paper Chase, Two Years Upfront?, The Founder’s NDA, Signature Pages, Dress the Part and Suya for Mama. Each day also brings a daily hustle, a small challenge such as talking to four people or taking two trips across Lagos, with a small reward.
3. Time, energy and money
Every day has four time slots: morning, afternoon, evening and night. Most actions use one slot. When a new day starts, ₦15,000 in living costs is deducted. Energy and mood run from 0 to 100: rest at home in Yaba to recover, and eat from your bag or buy food at Musa’s kiosk on Lagos Island. If both energy and mood run too low, you burn out and lose the rest of the day.
| Stat | What it does |
|---|---|
| Reputation | Decides your rank and raises the fees you earn from practice work. |
| Skill | Improves your chances of winning matters. |
| Network | Improves your chances of winning mandates when you pitch. |
| Energy and mood | Needed for work; low energy also weakens your performance on a matter. |
| Cash | Pays living costs, travel extras and acquisitions. |
4. Practise and travel
The Practise tab lists what you can do where you are: appear in court and research at the law library on Lagos Island, draft facility agreements on Victoria Island, lunch with a general counsel in Ikoyi, advise a fintech founder in Lekki, rest or write a thought leadership piece in Yaba. Use Lagos to travel between the five districts. A trip costs energy unless you own a car and driver.

5. Win mandates and run matters
The Matters tab shows mandates you can pitch for, each with a client, practice area, fee and deadline. Your chance of winning a pitch rises with your network, reputation and the client’s trust in you, and falls if a strong rival practises in that area. Once instructed, work the matter before the deadline by choosing Prepare thoroughly, Negotiate hard or Delegate and move fast. Preparation improves quality but costs more energy; delegation is quicker but weaker.

Whether you win depends on your skill, your specialism in that practice area, reputation, the quality of your work, your energy and the client’s trust. A win pays the full fee and adds reputation. A loss, or a missed deadline, pays 30% of the fee and costs reputation. Bigger mandates unlock as you rise.
6. Court hearings and decisions
In court you answer the judge and opposing counsel by choosing your arguments. Through the day, events ask you to decide: stay late on a brief, refuse an improper request from a client, answer a journalist, attend a family wedding. Choices change your stats and your relationships with your mentor, your rival Tobi Adeyemi, Mama and your loyal client, and some choices come back later as follow-ups.

7. Progression: from pupil to silk
| Rank | Reputation needed |
|---|---|
| Pupil | 0 |
| Associate | 40 |
| Senior Associate | 140 |
| Counsel | 320 |
| Partner | 600 |
| Senior Advocate | 1,000 |
The Acquire tab sells upgrades: a tailored suit (₦150,000, reputation), a law reports subscription (₦120,000, skill), club membership (₦600,000, network), a car and driver (₦1,500,000, free travel) and an office in Victoria Island (₦4,000,000, reputation). The Briefcase shows your next rank, your specialisms by practice area and the in-game rival standings. Those rivals are fictional characters, not players.

8. Scoring, earnings and the leaderboard
The public leaderboard lists real players who choose to join. In the game, open Street, press Ranks (or the L key) and choose Join with a display name. After you join, the game posts your progress automatically once per in-game day.
Earnings = fees and income received in the game since you started tracking.
The server recalculates every score from your submitted statistics. It rejects values that are impossible for the number of days played, numbers that go backwards and jumps that are too large, and it limits how often an entry can be updated. The leaderboard has two tabs, Total score and Earnings; the competition uses Total score.
