Zipline signs eight-year drone delivery agreement with Côte d’Ivoire

The government will fund operating costs as the network grows from one site to ten, aiming to reach about 12 million people.

Zipline announced on 22 September 2026 an eight-year agreement with the government of Côte d’Ivoire to expand its drone delivery of health supplies. It will add nine facilities to its single existing operation, set up in 2023, to reach about 12 million people, roughly a third of the population.

The Ivorian government will cover operating costs, including warehousing, cold chain management, digital tracking and delivery. Zipline did not disclose the contract value. During a three-year pilot it delivered nearly 4 million medical products, mainly vaccines and blood, to more than 200 health centres in north-west Abidjan.

Zipline is using a US$150m US government grant awarded in 2025 that is conditional on African governments signing contracts and covering operating expenses.
