The Africa Finance Corporation and the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed, in Dubai on 12 October 2026, a joint development agreement making AFC co-developer of phase one of MetroKin: a 25km electrified double-track line from Kinshasa’s central station to N’Djili airport with eight stations, estimated at US$877m. A State support and guarantee agreement was signed in Kinshasa on 8 October, and a memorandum covers a feasibility study for a Kinshasa–Banana railway. AFC’s own funding share and the guarantee terms have not been disclosed. Works are due to start in December 2026.
